Eleven Madison Park

Rarely have I had such an amazing meal, as that I had at Eleven Madison Park. The restaurant came onto my radar because a former student of mine, a fellow foodie and hospitality student at Cornell, was interning there. I devised to visit her new restaurant and she devised to surprise me with a gorgeous multi-course meal. It was the most wonderful surprise.
The caviar course was inspired by eggs benedict.

Foie Gras with eggplant two ways. If you know me well, you know that any kind of jelly delights me.

Lobster, of which I could have eaten 3 more servings.

Pepper encrusted duck with a tasty blueberry tartlet. I have waxed eloquent on more than one occasion about my relationship with duck. Without a doubt, this was the best duck I have had in my life.

A bit of chocolate and pepper for dessert.

For me, the experience of dining is really only half about the food. Ok. Perhaps it's three-quarters about the food. But, I really appreciate the care that great restaurants give their patrons, be it guiding you from course to course, a special backstage kitchen tour, or genial conversation with a bartender.

I am a 32 year old single woman working in Education. The brunt of my day is spent care for others. When I come home, I don't have anyone to care for me. Good food in nice places has become one of my most important rituals for self-care. Teaching is hard and wonderful and rewarding. But a week of work can leave me feeling battered sometimes. Nothing helps get me on my feet again like a fabulous meal. Thanks to all my food industries friends who give me a little TLC.
